1995 Plymouth Voyager problems?

We bought a 95 plymouth voyager in march. It was fine, then recently everytime I make a right turn, it's like the slips and goes into neutral- the only way it fixes itself is if I slowly step on the gas, then the van will kind of "jump" and kick into gear. Do I need a whole new transmission, or is it something else? I have my 21-month old in the car with me and I don't want the engine to blow up on me or something. Any help is greatly appreciated!
