When citing MLA style, are parenthetical/in-text citations required?

I'm doing a project for science and for the written component we are supposed to use MLA format for citing sources. In the rubric it only says "bibliography of research in MLA form is required." So I was wondering if that includes in-text citations? Are in-text citations required for MLA citation or is a works cited page sufficient?
