SHould we destroy all life on Mars? (See Details!)?

If all we found on Mars (due to the Phoenix probe) was bacteria that would be harmful to humans, would we have the right to destroy all of that bacteria just so we could use the planet for mankind? Would that be ethical, reasonable, or conscionable?
